Beschrijving keerzijde A large, bold trident — the national symbol of Barbados — dominates the center of the field, rendered in high relief against a contrasting hammered or textured background that is divided diagonally between a polished and a matte finish. The denomination FIVE DOLLARS is inscribed along the lower portion of the field in prominent lettering. The legend .9999 FINE GOLD curves along the left inner border, while ONE TROY OUNCE curves along the right inner border, together confirming the coin's bullion specification. A beaded border frames the entire reverse design.

Aanvullende informatie

Barbados issued its first circulating decimal coinage in 1973, the year after independence, and the trident — severed from the British colonial arms — became the defining motif of that monetary break. This 2018 gold issue belongs to a bullion program the Central Bank has used intermittently to capitalize on the island's strong numismatic export market, with most pieces moving directly into overseas collector hands rather than anywhere near domestic circulation.

The .9999 fineness places it among the purest standard bullion strikes commercially available, matching the Canadian Maple Leaf specification that effectively set the modern benchmark in 1979.
