| Obverse description | The obverse displays the coat of arms of the Republic of Palau centrally within a decorative shield, depicting a crowned Neptune-like figure seated astride a large fish, holding a trident, accompanied by a mermaid to his right and an open treasure chest to his left, with a crescent moon and stylised sun in the upper field of the shield. A traditional outrigger canoe appears above the shield. The inscription REPUBLIC OF PALAU arcs along the upper rim, flanked by eight five-pointed stars. The legend RAINBOW'S END appears within the lower portion of the shield, and the denomination 5$ is inscribed at the base of the coin. |
