Niue's arrangement with the New Zealand Mint has made it one of the more prolific issuers of high-relief collector silver in the Pacific, and this piece belongs to a numbered edition of fifteen — a mintage figure low enough to be genuinely restrictive rather than nominally so. Klimt's 1907–08 painting remains in the Österreichische Galerie Belvedere in Vienna, where it has been since 1908 after the Austrian government purchased it directly from the artist before the work was even exhibited.
