Niue's licensing arrangement with the Austrian National Gallery allowed this series to reproduce Klimt's 1907–08 oil painting in high relief on silver — an arrangement that required navigating Austrian cultural heritage law, as the original hangs in the Belvedere and is treated as a national artwork of near-untouchable status. The 70-gram format was chosen specifically to give the relief work enough surface area to approximate the painting's dense gilded texture.
This is the fourteenth of fifteen issues in the sequence. Collectors tracking the full run consistently report that mid-series pieces like this one surface less frequently than the first and final numbers.
