Liberia's commemorative dollar program of the 2000s was prolific to the point of absurdity — hundreds of collector-targeted issues, many struck by foreign mints with little connection to Liberian monetary history. The "T 34" designation here refers to the Soviet T-34 tank, a subject with no particular Liberian relevance whatsoever.
The T-34 itself entered production in 1940 at the Kharkov Locomotive Factory and became the most-produced tank of World War II, with over 84,000 units manufactured. Liberia simply licensed its image as one of dozens of military-themed issues in this series.
