Obverse description Within an ornate scrollwork cartouche occupying the upper half of the oval flan, the right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II after the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait is shown in relief, with the legend ELIZABETH II inscribed below the bust. Surrounding the cartouche in the lower half of the field is a highly detailed relief depiction of the Fabergé Swan Egg surprise, rendered as an open jewelled casket flanked by two crossed fans and surmounted by a miniature globe, all resting on a decorative stand. The legend NIUE ISLAND arcs across the upper field, with the denomination 5 DOLLARS along the left edge and the date 2012 along the right edge. The fineness mark AU 900 appears in the lower right of the field.
