| 裏面の説明 | The reverse features a colorized central field depicting the Stephansdom (St. Stephen's Cathedral) in Vienna, rendered in full color against a purple-blue sky, with the distinctive tall Gothic south tower and the lower north tower prominently depicted. Superimposed over the cathedral image in bold white lettering is the inscription STEPHANS- / DOM, separated by a thin red horizontal rule. The surrounding milled border carries the circular legend INTERNATIONAL POSTAGE STAMP EXHIBITION arching along the lower periphery and WIPA 2000 along the upper periphery, all in raised Latin lettering within a beaded inner ring. |

Liberia's late-1990s commemorative program was a frank revenue exercise — the republic issued hundreds of foreign-themed collector coins during this period, most with no domestic circulation and no meaningful connection to Liberian history. This piece, honoring Vienna's Stephansdom, was produced almost certainly for the European souvenir and collector market rather than for any Liberian purpose. The cathedral itself survived World War II largely intact, saved in part because a local Wehrmacht commander, Siegfried Thenius, refused orders to demolish it as Soviet forces closed in on Vienna in April 1945.
