| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse features the national coat of arms of Palau, depicting a central shield with a sea scene showing a crowned Neptune figure holding a trident, accompanied by a mermaid, coral, and a crescent moon, all within an ornate border. A traditional Palauan canoe (bai) appears above the shield. Six stars are arranged symmetrically around the shield in the field. The circular legend 'REPUBLIC OF PALAU' arcs along the upper rim, while the motto 'RAINBOW'S END' appears beneath the shield. The denomination '5$' is inscribed at the bottom of the field. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Palau has issued commemorative silver dollars since 1992 under licensing arrangements that have little to do with the island nation's own history or economy — the coins are designed, marketed, and largely sold in Europe and Asia. This piece belongs to a series highlighting world architectural landmarks, a format Palau's mint programs used extensively in the late 2000s to attract thematic collectors.
St. Basil's was commissioned by Ivan the Terrible in 1555 to commemorate the capture of Kazan from the Khanate.
