Descripción del reverso A finely engraved Scarlet Ibis (Eudocimus ruber), the national bird of Trinidad and Tobago, is depicted standing in full profile facing right, perched upon a naturalistic branch with foliage visible to the right. The large numeral 5 appears in the left field, with the word DOLLARS inscribed along the lower portion of the field beneath the bird. The design is rendered with exceptional detail against a deeply mirrored proof background, highlighting the bird's elongated curved bill and distinctive plumage through precise frostwork.

Información adicional

Trinidad and Tobago gained independence from Britain in 1962, but the decision to issue a native proof coinage series came only after the country became a republic in 1976 — the starting year of this run. The Central Bank used these proof sets partly as a foreign exchange instrument, marketing them to international collectors at a premium well above face value.

The .925 fineness matches traditional sterling silver, a deliberate nod to British minting conventions that the new republic had not entirely abandoned.
