Additional information

Cook Islands has issued celebrity-themed commemoratives under licensing arrangements since the early 2000s, and this Mitchum piece belongs to a Hollywood legends series produced by the Benny Enterprises / CIT partnership for the numismatic market. Mitchum himself died in 1997, so the issue is entirely posthumous and collector-driven — no circulation context whatsoever.

His 1948 conviction for marijuana possession, which briefly threatened to end his career, instead cemented his anti-establishment screen persona.
