| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field bears the full coat of arms of the Republic of Liberia, depicting a three-masted sailing ship at sea, a palm tree, a plow, and a rising sun within a shield, flanked by decorative supporters. A scroll across the shield bears the national motto THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE. The circular legend REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA runs along the upper periphery, with a second inscription REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA on a scroll at the base of the arms. The denomination 5 DOLLARS is inscribed in the lower field. The design is struck in proof quality with a mirror-finish field and a beaded border. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Liberia has issued commemorative coinage featuring American historical figures since the 1990s, operating largely as a revenue-generating program selling to foreign collectors rather than producing coins for domestic circulation. Robert E. Lee appears across several of these issues. The coins are struck for the collector market and see no meaningful use within Liberia itself.
Silver-plated copper construction is worth noting: the plating on these issues is prone to wear through at high points with handling, which affects long-term eye appeal more than grade.
