Aanvullende informatie

Barbados severed its constitutional ties to the British Crown in November 2021, becoming a republic with Dame Sandra Mason as its first president. This 2022 issue therefore occupies an awkward transitional position: struck after the republic was declared, yet still bearing the effigy of a monarch who was no longer head of state. Elizabeth II died in September 2022, making late-dated issues from this year among the final coins of any sovereign nation — republic or otherwise — to carry her portrait under an active minting program.
