正面描述 The obverse features the coat of arms of the Republic of Palau centrally positioned within the field: a shield bearing a traditional sailing canoe above a figure of a fisherman amid ocean waves, accompanied by a rising sun and a trident symbol. The shield is enclosed within a decorative border, with eight five-pointed stars arranged around its perimeter. The legend REPUBLIC OF PALAU arcs along the upper rim in raised Latin lettering, while the denomination 5$ appears in the lower field beneath the shield. The motto RAINBOW'S END is inscribed on a banner across the lower portion of the shield.

附加信息

Palau has issued commemorative silver under its own authority since 1992, exploiting a monetary agreement that allows the island nation — population under 20,000 — to produce legal tender coins with no obligation to circulate them. This piece honors Persepolis, the Achaemenid ceremonial capital begun under Darius I around 518 BC and burned by Alexander the Great in 330 BC, possibly in deliberate retaliation for the Persian destruction of Athens.

The nearby city of Shiraz served for centuries as the regional center through which travelers accessed the ruins, and the pairing in the title reflects that geographical relationship rather than any administrative or ancient connection between the two.
