Obverse description The obverse face of this three-dimensional spherical coin presents the coat of arms of Barbados at centre, rendered in detail against a polished circular field surrounded by the heavily textured, crater-pitted antique-finished surface of the sphere. The arms feature two supporters — a dolphin to the left and a pelican to the right — flanking a quartered shield bearing a fig tree, and are surmounted by a helmet and crest with a hand grasping two crossed pieces of sugar cane. The motto ribbon below reads PRIDE AND INDUSTRY. The legend BARBADOS arcs above the arms, with the date 20 22 divided on either side of the shield, and the denomination 5 DOLLARS curves along the lower margin. The fineness and weight designation 1 oz Ag 999 appears peripherally, completing the inscriptional content within the flat central disc.

Reverse description The reverse of this spherical silver piece depicts a highly realistic, three-dimensional representation of the surface of the planet Mercury, entirely covering the convex face of the sphere. The surface is rendered in meticulous relief with a dense array of impact craters of varying sizes, ridges, and geological formations, faithfully reproducing the heavily cratered terrain of the innermost planet of the solar system. The antique finish accentuates the interplay of light and shadow across the topography, lending a striking naturalistic appearance. No legends, inscriptions, or mint marks appear on this face, the design relying entirely on the sculptural detail to identify its planetary subject.
