| Obverse description | The obverse features the national coat of arms of Palau centrally positioned within an ornate shield, depicting a sea deity holding a trident flanked by a mermaid figure, surrounded by a wreath of tropical flora. Above the shield, a traditional Palauan canoe with a paddler is depicted in the upper field. The legend REPUBLIC OF PALAU arcs along the upper rim, flanked by eight small stars in the field. The motto RAINBOW'S END appears in the exergue of the shield, and the denomination 5$ is inscribed at the bottom of the coin. |
