Hutt River Province was a self-declared micronation in Western Australia, established in 1970 by Leonard Casley following a dispute with the Australian government over wheat production quotas. It issued its own currency, stamps, and passports with complete seriousness, though none were recognized by Australia or any sovereign state. By 1992, the province had developed a cottage industry of commemorative issues aimed squarely at foreign coin collectors rather than any domestic economy.
The Operation Overlord pairing is historically incongruous — a wheat farmer's breakaway territory in the Western Australian outback had no connection to the Normandy landings whatsoever.
