Hutt River Province was a self-declared micronation in Western Australia, founded by Leonard Casley in 1970 after a dispute with the government over wheat production quotas. It issued coins prolifically through the 1980s and 1990s, largely marketed to collectors rather than circulated. The New Queensland Mint produced many of these issues as contract work, with "Leonard I" being Casley's regal style as self-proclaimed Prince.
The glider landings subject refers to Operation Deadstick and related British airborne actions on the night of 5–6 June 1944. Hutt River's commemorative program during this period leaned heavily on WWII anniversaries.
