Obverse description The national coat of arms of Belize is centrally displayed, featuring a quartered shield bearing crossed tools and a sailing vessel, supported by two bare-chested woodcutters — one shouldering an axe, the other a paddle — flanking the shield. A mahogany tree rises above the shield as a crest, and a scroll beneath bears the national motto. The arms are encircled by an olive wreath. The legend BELIZE arcs across the upper field, the date 1982 appears in the lower field, and a continuous beaded border frames the entire design.
