Descrizione del dritto	At centre, the national coat of arms of Kiribati is depicted in shield form, showing a rising sun with radiating rays emerging above stylised ocean waves in the lower half, and a great frigate bird in flight occupying the upper half of the shield. The highly polished mirror fields characteristic of proof coinage frame the device, creating strong contrast with the frosted relief. The curved Latin legend 'KIRIBATI' appears at lower left and the date '1979' at lower right, both positioned beneath the shield along the lower arc of the coin.
