| 背面描述 | A detailed high-relief rendering of an Iguanodon dinosaur, depicted in right-facing profile in a walking pose, dominates the central field within an inner circle. To the upper left of the inner circle, the inscription 1oz 999 Silver appears in small lettering. A three-toed Iguanodon footprint is shown in the lower left field. The face value $5 is prominently displayed to the left of the dinosaur. The name IGUANODON is inscribed in large raised lettering along the lower periphery. The proof finish highlights the naturalistic sculptural detail of the dinosaur motif. |

Sierra Leone has issued an enormous volume of commemorative silver dollars through licensing arrangements with overseas distributors — most bearing no meaningful connection to the country itself. This Iguanodon piece is squarely in that category, produced for the collector market rather than any domestic monetary purpose.
Iguanodon itself has an interesting claim on numismatic attention: it was one of the first dinosaurs formally described by science, named by Gideon Mantell in 1825 from Sussex fossil teeth. That's where the historical substance ends for this issue.
