| Reverse description | A detailed frontal view of the Brandenburg Gate dominates the field, with searchlight rays emanating from its base and a large crowd of celebrating figures gathered at its foot, evoking the scenes of German reunification. Atop the gate's entablature, the Quadriga sculpture is visible, and superimposed above is a stylised outline map of a unified Germany overlaid with the horizontal tricolour of the German national flag. The legend GERMANY UNITED arcs boldly along the upper periphery, with the commemorative date 3 OCTOBER 1990 to the lower left and the denomination FIVE DOLLARS to the lower right flanking the gate. The German phrase WIR SIND EIN VOLK (We are one people) is inscribed along the lower periphery, and a small M mint mark appears to the right of the gate. |
