Obverse description Central field features the shield-shaped coat of arms of the Republic of Palau, depicting a classical marine scene with a crowned Neptune or sea-god figure holding a trident, accompanied by a kneeling female figure, a large shell, and aquatic foliage, all rendered in high relief. The legend REPUBLIC OF PALAU arcs along the upper rim in Latin script, flanked on both sides by a ring of five-pointed stars. A small traditional Palauan sailing canoe with a figure aboard appears above the shield at the top of the field. The motto RAINBOW'S END is inscribed on a scroll at the base of the shield, and the denomination 5$ is displayed at the bottom of the field in the exergue.
