Obverse description Right-facing effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, diademed and draped, after the portrait by Ian Rank-Broadley, whose initials IRB appear beneath the truncation. The effigy is set against an elaborately engraved background of traditional Chinese peony blossoms and foliage in high relief. To the right of the portrait, a multi-tiered Chinese pagoda rises prominently in the field. The denomination '5 DOLLARS' appears in a circular cartouche at center, with the legend 'ELIZABETH II' arching along the upper rim and 'NIUE 2020' along the lower rim, all within a hatched border.

Additional information

Zheng He commanded the largest wooden ships ever built — some estimates place the treasure junks at over 400 feet in length — during seven voyages between 1405 and 1433 that reached as far as the East African coast. The Ming court halted the expeditions after Yongle Emperor's death, and China subsequently destroyed most of the fleet records, leaving the voyages chronically underrepresented in Western numismatic commemoratives relative to their historical scale.
