Obverse description The obverse presents the fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Susanna Blunt, depicting a right-facing bare-headed portrait of the Queen at approximately 77 years of age. The Queen is shown wearing drop earrings and a necklace, rendered in a refined and dignified sculptural style. The surrounding legend arcs along the upper rim of the coin field.

Reverse description The reverse features a boldly rendered bust of a ram with large, dramatically curved horns, occupying the central field in high relief against a stylized background of bamboo stalks and foliage rendered in a geometric, segmented pattern. The Chinese character for sheep (羊) appears in the lower right field, flanked by the engraver's initials 'SN'. The bilingual legends 'Année du Mouton' and 'Year of the Sheep' arc along the left rim, while 'CANADA 5 DOLLARS 2015' is inscribed along the upper portion of the field, celebrating the Lunar New Year of the Sheep.
