| Obverse description | Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, diademed and wearing a pearl drop earring and necklace, sculpted in high relief within a recessed circular field with a dark enamelled background. The royal diadem is highlighted in gold gilding. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs above and NIUE appears below at the top of the rectangular flan, with the date 2012 inscribed at the lower portion of the flan in gilded numerals. The portrait is based on the third definitive effigy by Raphael David Maklouf. |
