| Obverse description | Right-facing diademed and draped effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, after the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait, occupying the central field against a mirror-polished background. The legend 'ELIZABETH II' arcs along the left rim and '5 DOLLARS' along the upper rim, with 'COOK ISLANDS' descending along the right rim. The engraver's initials 'IRB' appear in small capitals beneath the truncation of the bust. The date '2014' is inscribed at the base of the field. The portrait displays fine detail in the Queen's tiara and hair, characteristic of the fourth Rank-Broadley effigy used on Commonwealth coinage. |
