Part of the Royal Canadian Mint's "Untold History of Canada" series, this issue draws on early-contact-period documentation of Algonquian-speaking peoples in the St. Lawrence lowlands — a region administered as Bas-Canada from 1791 until the Act of Union collapsed the designation in 1841. The French term "wigwam" entered colonial records through Abenaki, where the structure described was a birchbark dwelling built for seasonal occupation rather than permanence.
The .9999 fineness places it among the purest silver issues the RCM produces routinely — a standard the mint adopted aggressively in the 2000s to differentiate its collector bullion from competitors.
