Issued as the fifth piece in a six-coin series marking the 90th birthday of Elizabeth II in 2016, this coin arrived at a moment when the Queen had recently surpassed Victoria as Britain's longest-reigning monarch — a record she crossed in September 2015. The Solomon Islands, a Commonwealth realm with Elizabeth as head of state, was among dozens of issuing authorities producing commemorative silver for the occasion.
