Reverse description A highly detailed three-quarter perspective architectural rendering of the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, occupying the upper two-thirds of the reverse field. The temple is depicted with its characteristic double row of tall Ionic columns supporting an elaborately decorated entablature and pediment, set upon a broad stepped platform with a prominent central staircase. Sculptural figures of horsemen and attendants are rendered in low relief along the temple's stylobate at lower left, conveying the monumental scale of the structure. The engraver's initials B appear in the lower right field. The curved legend THE TEMPLE OF ARTEMIS AT EPHESUS arcs across the lower portion of the field in bold incuse lettering.
