Aanvullende informatie

Khotyn fortress, perched on the Dniester River in what is now western Ukraine, was the site of the 1621 Battle of Khotyn, where a Polish-Lithuanian and Cossack force halted the Ottoman advance into central Europe. The Ottomans lost somewhere between 14,000 and 40,000 men depending on the source — the variance alone reflects how contested the battle's memory remains. Cook Islands issued extensively in this period under licensing arrangements that had little to do with the territory itself, farming out its mint authority to produce collectibles aimed at European and post-Soviet markets.
