Reverse description The upper portion of the reverse features a vivid full-color reproduction of the celebrated 13th-century apse mosaic from the Basilica of San Giovanni in Laterano, Rome, depicting Christ in glory at the apex surrounded by angels, with the Virgin Mary, saints, and apostles arranged below around a jewelled cross set against a golden ground. Below the colored inset, a finely engraved architectural elevation of the basilica's facade occupies the central field, flanked by the inscriptions ROME and XIIIth CENTURY. The legend SAN GIOVANNI IN LATERANO arcs across the upper border of the uncolored field, while WONDERFUL MOSAICS is rendered in bold relief along the lower border, framed by decorative mosaic-tile motifs.
