Beschrijving voorzijde Right-facing diademed and draped effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, modelled after the fourth definitive portrait by Ian Rank-Broadley, occupying the central field of the rectangular flan. The legend COOK ISLANDS and the denomination 5 DOLLARS appear in two lines across the upper portion of the field. The engraver's initials IRB are incused below the truncation of the bust. Aanvullende informatie

Cook Islands has issued commemorative silver under its own authority since 1972, using the arrangement that grants it self-governance in free association with New Zealand — the country produces legal tender coinage without operating a central bank or mint of its own, contracting production to private minting houses. By 2011 the program had expanded aggressively into themed holiday and religious issues aimed squarely at the collector and gift market, with Saint Nicholas among dozens of similar releases that year.

No meaningful circulation history exists for this piece.
