| Obverse description | Within an elaborately ornate rococo cartouche of scrolling acanthus and floral relief work occupying the upper half of the oval field, the right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley is depicted in high relief. The legend 'ELIZABETH II' appears directly below the portrait. The inscription 'NIUE ISLAND' arcs along the upper border, while '5 DOLLARS' runs vertically along the left edge and the date '2012' along the right edge. In the lower half of the coin, a finely detailed relief of an open Fabergé egg revealing a flower basket is framed by scrollwork, with the gold fineness mark 'Au 900' inscribed in the lower exergue. |
