Additional information

Part of the RCM's ongoing Birds of Canada bullion series, the Red-tailed Hawk issue sits in a crowded market of .9999 fine silver fauna coins that the Mint aggressively expanded through the 2010s. The series drew on Canada's wildlife coinage tradition stretching back to the 1967 centennial set, though these are unambiguously bullion product rather than numismatic issue.

The .9999 fineness — four nines — was adopted by the RCM for its bullion silver in the early 2000s, edging out the .999 standard used by most competitors including the American Silver Eagle.
