Cook Islands has operated one of the more prolific commemorative bullion programs in the Pacific since the 1970s, issuing coins as a revenue instrument under currency agreements with New Zealand. The KM#3261 is one of hundreds of licensed issues produced for the collector market in 2022, the year Elizabeth II died at Balmoral on September 8th — making any commemorative struck that year potentially her last as reigning monarch on an issuing territory's coinage.
