| 正面铭文 | ELIZABETH II COOK ISLANDS IRB 5 DOLLARS |
| 背面描述 | Detailed panoramic view of the iconic island abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel rising dramatically above the surrounding village and ramparts, depicted in finely engraved relief. Elaborate Gothic tracery and interlaced ornamental panels frame the architectural scene on the left and right sides of the field. The name MONT · SAINT · MICHEL appears as a bold legend across the upper portion of the design, integrated within the decorative border. The commemorative dates 1023–2023 are inscribed within a cartouche at the base of the composition, marking the millennium of the abbey's founding. |

Mont-Saint-Michel passed into French state ownership in 1874 after centuries of use as both an abbey and a Napoleonic-era prison, a dual history that has made it one of the more politically loaded pilgrimage sites in Western Europe. Cook Islands has issued gold fractionals under its own authority since the 1970s, a right formalized through its self-governing association with New Zealand — the same arrangement that keeps Cook Islands passports valid but Cook Islanders outside the UN.
Elizabeth II died on 8 September 2022; this 2023 dating makes it among the earliest posthumous issues bearing her effigy under Cook Islands authority.
