| Obverse description | The obverse features the right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley, set within a circular raised medallion at the centre of an elaborately sculpted crown forming the bow of a large skeleton key. The crown is rendered in high relief with arched flutes adorned with rows of beads, a rope-twist fillet at its base, and a central finial above, all finished in antiqued silver. The circular medallion bears the legend ELIZABETH II to the left and 5 DOLLARS / COOK ISLANDS to the right, with the engraver's initials IRB below the portrait and the date 2023 in the exergue.
