Father Frost — Ded Moroz in Russian tradition — is a Soviet-era repackaging of older Slavic winter folklore, institutionalized by Stalin's government in the 1930s as a secular replacement for Saint Nicholas after religious celebrations were suppressed. His pairing with the Snegurochka figure was formalized through state-sanctioned New Year's broadcasts and became a fixture of USSR holiday culture that persisted well beyond the Soviet collapse.
The Solomon Islands has no cultural connection to this mythology whatsoever. The island nation's central bank licenses its name to a European bullion dealer — New Zealand Mint handles fulfillment — producing dozens of thematically unrelated collector pieces annually for the international commemorative market.
