Niue has long served as a convenient issuing authority for novelty bullion products, its sovereignty lending legal-tender status to coins that are effectively manufactured collectibles. This piece — a one-gram gold wafer with an embedded diamond — was produced by a private mint for the collector market, not for any monetary purpose Niue could meaningfully exercise. The diamond inclusion, while technically documented, adds negligible intrinsic value at 0.004 carats.
