| Reverse description | Full-length figure of a golfer depicted in mid-swing follow-through at center, standing on a golf course. In the background to the left, a cluster of palm trees and a winding water hazard are rendered in low relief, with mountain outlines visible on the horizon; to the right, a flagged hole is visible on the green. | Additional information |
Solomon Islands has issued commemorative silver under its own authority since independence in 1978, and by the 2010s had become a prolific licensor of themed issues produced almost entirely for the collector market — the country itself having no meaningful domestic coin circulation at that denomination. This piece, dated 2015 for the Rio 2016 Games, was almost certainly struck by a European contract mint and sold through wholesale numismatic distributors well before the Games opened.
