Additional information

The Bf 109 entered service with the Luftwaffe in 1937 and went on to become the most produced fighter aircraft in history, with over 33,000 built across multiple variants. Cook Islands issued this piece as part of a broader aviation series capitalizing on the collector market for WWII subject matter that expanded sharply in the late 2000s. The series had no particular connection to the Pacific theater — the Bf 109 never operated anywhere near the Cook Islands.
