One of twelve issues in the RCM's 2016 birthstone series, each coin was set with a genuine Swarovski crystal element corresponding to its month — emerald green for May. The series was produced as a collector product from the outset, with mintages capped low enough that secondary market demand materialized almost immediately after the May issue sold out.
