Part of the RCM's "Celebrate Canada" series, this issue marks the maple sap harvest — a window of roughly four to six weeks when overnight freezing and daytime thaws drive sap through sugar maples across Quebec and Ontario. Canada produces approximately 70% of the world's maple syrup, and the industry traces its commercial roots to Indigenous harvesting techniques adopted by French settlers in the 17th century. The .9999 fine silver specification became standard for RCM bullion and collector issues after the mint achieved that purity benchmark consistently in the late 1990s.
