Reverse description A male Western Lowland gorilla (Gorilla gorilla gorilla) depicted in a three-quarter frontal stance, knuckle-walking amid tropical foliage rendered in low relief across the central field. The arc legend ENDANGERED WILDLIFE is inscribed along the upper periphery, split to either side of the gorilla's form, while the denomination 5 DOLLARS appears in the lower field below the animal. The naturalistic rendering conveys the musculature and coat texture of the great ape in fine detail.
