| 正面描述 | The obverse features a composite design divided into two registers. In the upper field, a crusader standard-bearer and a kneeling figure with a cross are depicted against a plain background, evoking a medieval military scene. The arc legend HISTORY OF THE CRUSADES curves along the upper rim. In the lower portion of the field, a circular inner medallion contains the diademed and draped effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, after the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait, with the legends ELIZABETH II and COOK ISLANDS flanking the bust and the denomination 5 DOLLARS below, with the engraver's initials IRB beneath the truncation. |

| 背面描述 | The reverse presents a highly detailed, high-relief scene commemorating the Livonian Crusades. At the right stands a commanding full-length figure of Albert, Bishop of Riga, vested in episcopal robes and mitre, holding a crozier in his left hand and a model of a fortified church in his right. To his left, a dramatic battle scene unfolds in lower relief, depicting mounted and foot soldiers in medieval armour engaged in fierce combat beneath a stormy clouded sky. The arc legend LIVONIAN CRUSADES runs along the upper rim, while the inscriptions ALBERT, BISHOP OF RIGA, and the date 2018 appear in the lower exergue, flanking a Crusader cross and sword motif. |

The Livonian Crusades — a series of campaigns waged from the early 13th century by the Teutonic Knights and the Livonian Order against the pagan Baltic and Finnic peoples — are among the least-documented crusading episodes in Western numismatic commemorative history, making this a niche subject even by Cook Islands collector-series standards. The territory in question, covering much of modern Latvia and Estonia, was subjugated over roughly two centuries of intermittent warfare.
Cook Islands has issued commemorative silver under third-party licensing arrangements since the 1970s, with the actual striking contracted to European mints.
