| Obverse description | At center, a raised inner medallion bears the right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, wearing a tiara and draped in robes, after the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait, with the legend 'ELIZABETH II' to the left and 'FIVE DOLLARS' to the right along the upper arc of the medallion. Below the effigy, the inscriptions 'NIUE', '2021', and 'Ag999' appear in the exergue area of the medallion. The broad outer field of the coin features a finely detailed antiqued relief depiction of a coiling Chinese dragon amid stylized clouds and swirling motifs, rendered in a deeply contrasted matte finish. Decorative Chinese endless-knot (pan chang) ornaments flank the inner medallion. The entire composition is framed by a geometric border with traditional Chinese fretwork design elements. |
