| 正面描述 | Right-facing diademed and draped effigy of Queen Elizabeth II after the portrait by Ian Rank-Broadley, whose initials IRB appear below the truncation. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the left periphery, COOK ISLANDS along the right, and the denomination 5 DOLLARS is inscribed along the lower field. The antiqued silver finish gives the portrait a deeply sculpted, high-relief appearance. |

La Ciénega is an iron meteorite found in New Mexico, classified as a IIIAB octahedrite — a structural group formed from the fractured core of a differentiated asteroid, with the characteristic Widmanstätten pattern that only emerges after cooling over millions of years at roughly 1°C per million years. Cook Islands has issued a long-running series of meteorite coins incorporating genuine fragments of their named subjects, and this piece contains an embedded slice of the La Ciénega mass. The IIIAB group is one of the most abundant iron meteorite classifications recovered on Earth, suggesting its parent body was large enough to survive multiple fragmentation events.
