| Obverse description | Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II wearing the George IV State Diadem, after the fourth definitive portrait by Ian Rank-Broadley, whose initials IRB appear below the truncation. The legend ELIZABETH II ~ TOKELAU arcs above the effigy, flanked on both sides by incuse geometric patterns inspired by traditional Tokelauan woven mat (kie) motifs. The denomination FIVE DOLLARS is inscribed below the portrait, and a stylised depiction of a traditional Tokelauan food basket (kato ika) appears at the lower centre. The motto TOKELAU MO TE ATUA (Tokelau for the Almighty) is engraved in a curved banner at the base, with the date 2012 positioned to the right of the portrait. |
