Kaa, the python from Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book, appeared on a wave of Cook Islands collector issues produced in the early 2010s under licensing arrangements that turned the Pacific nation into one of the busiest novelty bullion mints of that decade. Cook Islands has no meaningful domestic coin circulation; its numismatic program exists almost entirely as a revenue vehicle, with the New Zealand dollar serving actual transactional needs on the islands.
