Obverse description The full arms of Barbados occupy the central field, featuring a shield divided into three sections bearing two Pride of Barbados flowers and a bearded fig tree, supported on the dexter by a dolphin and on the sinister by a pelican. Above the shield is a helmeted crest with the arm and hand of a Barbadian holding two stalks of sugar cane in saltire. A flowing ribbon below the shield bears the national motto in two sections reading PRIDE AND INDUSTRY. The dates 1966 and 1976 flank the arms at mid-field, commemorating the tenth anniversary of independence, with the legend BARBADOS inscribed along the lower arc and trident symbols flanking the supporters. The coin is bordered by a continuous ring of beads.
